Bring 1 activity for every 20 min of flying yime. I try to mix in new things with old favorites like a new coloring book & crayons with a favorite story book. Pack lots of small snacks & my kids get gum as a treat on the airplane.
I've flown w/my daughter several times since from the time she was born virtually. My biggest tip is only pack a diaper bag with extra clothes, diapers, and food/snacks. Pack your tickets and ID in am easy to reach part of that bag. Be sure to carry a blanket to let the baby crawl around etc during layovers. Once older you can use a backpack with wrist leash to free your hands, let your child walk and keep them from running off in a busy airport...normally I hate those things, but safety first! I still only pack one bag with snacks and extra clothes and toys
