My son goes to a charter school. We love it because art, music, and environmental education are top priorities. We have the only full time librarian in the district. I like that there is not a ton of emphasis put on testing and scores. We also have a great principal. It's not perfect, but it is a supportive and creative community for our children.
My oldest attends an online public school, which is a form of charter school. We do most of the work at home, but she has a teacher to report to, and we attend an optional weekly class in person.
We chose it because the local school is too obsessed with test scores, and not interested enough in teaching the kids the other stuff that's in the state curriculum.
The Charter school my kiddos attend has a much stronger curriculum and more parent involvement.
