Understanding Men... and Possibly Ourselves
I wish I could write you an article and tell you how it is... but I can't. I can't even understand my own husband. 90% of the time I have no idea why he says or does the things he does. And why does he question things that I do??? He should know by now that I have a reason for everything. :) Just do what you are told! Sometimes I feel like its like having another kid in the house. Is all men like that or is it just mine? I ask myself that all the time. Does he turn off his brain the minute he gets home? I hope he is not like that at work (i think to myself). The most aggravating thing is him not listening to me. It's like it goes in one ear and out the other. How many times do I have to tell him to cut the baby carrots length wise(he cuts them in half)! Ok... please tell me I am not the only one. :) By the way.. thanks for letting me vent.
Oh... I could write a novel on him. But I wouldn't do that. Cause I know I am not
I know most of you have heard of the book "Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus". A Practical Guide for Improving Communication and Getting What You Want in Your Relationships. Has it worked? I think its probably like Love and Logic where you have to keep remembering and practice it. It is hard but maybe just maybe it will come naturally.
There is another book out there that is great for women to try understand men better called "Men Are Like Waffles Women Are Like Spaghetti". This book is also good for men to read too! I really like this book because it really goes into depth about the men and women. Even though I thought I knew all that I needed to know about how women are its kind of interesting to actually read about and then you start to think... Hmmm.. Do I do that? Here is a little tidbit on the book;
Men Are Like Waffles
Men process life in boxes. If you look down at a waffle, you see a collection of boxes separated by walls. The boxes are separate from each other and make convenient holding places. That is typically how men process life. Their thinking is divided up into boxes that have room for one issue and one issue only. the first issue of life goes in the first box, the second goes in the second box, and so on. and it gets even better... so you got to get the book!! :)
Women Are Like Spaghetti
Women process life more like a plate of pasta. If you look at a plate of spaghetti, you notice there are lots of individual noodles that all touch one another. If you attempt to follow one noodle around the plate, you will intersect a lot of the other noodles, and you might even switch to another noodle seamlessly. Women face life in this way. Every thought and issue is connected to every other thought and issue in some way. Life is much more of a process for women than it is for men.
Now.. does that sound like us?? :)
We all know that not everyone is like this. Hopefully you have the perfect man. But the main thing and the most important thing is that the TWO of you are happy together. No matter how much you don't understand each other as long as you take the time to listen or can even joke about it with out an argument will keep your marriage going strong. I should take notes from myself. :) lol
