Create A Family Journal

By: Kristen Mason

To encourage writing, we've started a Family Journal.  We're all writing a minimum of 1 sentence after dinner.  It's really just the news of our day.  Spelling does not count, but everyone must try their best.

no frills composition book - post-it tracks bonus points
This offers us (the parents) a chance to model appropriate spacing, capital letters, and think out loud about what we are writing (ideas, sounds, etc).

That's it - pretty simple!

Kristen Mason lives in Northern Virginia and blogs at Busy Kids = Happy Mom!  She teaches part time in an elementary school, is involved in MOMSnext, and loves all things crafty!  She is married and has 2 sons.

  1. What an AWESOME idea!!! I have boys that don't love sharing details about their day and this is a GREAT way our fam can talk! :-)
