APP Of The Week - Rock 'N Learn

The stories in Rock 'N Learn Phonics Easy Reader 1 provide practice using the following phonics material: short vowel sounds, consonant-vowel-consonant combinations, words ending with ll, ss, ff, s, and plural s.

The “Memory Words” presented at the beginning of each story are words that do not follow phonics rules.

On the title screen, you may choose one of two modes: “Read to Me” or “Let Me Try.”
During “Read to Me” the story is read aloud. Words are highlighted so that learners may read along. The pause button may be pressed at any time. A play button will appear while the story is paused so that users may resume the story whenever they want. During the pause mode, learners can also opt to return to the main menu with the home button in the upper left corner.

During “Let Me Try” learners can read the sentences by themselves. If they need help with a particular word, they may tap the word to hear it. After reading each sentence for themselves, they may press the play button to check their accuracy. Forward and Back arrows allow learners to maneuver through the story at their own pace. Learners may also use a swipe gesture to turn pages.
