In The Green Mother Goose: Saving the World One Rhyme at a Time, Jan Peck and David Davis pioneer a uniquely green twist on the beloved characters of classic nursery rhymes. This quirky re-telling is a playful invitation to go green as Yankee Doodle travels eco-consciously, Old Mother Hubbard learns to shop local, and the Three Wise Mice search for clothes at thrift shops. Cheerful lyrics compliment Carin Berger’s fanciful collages created from ticket stubs, newspapers and other reused items. Peck and Davis’ practical earth-saving tips will entertain both children and adults through old-new classics like "Rub-a-Dub-Dub" and "There Was an Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe," making this picture book as enjoyable to quietly peruse over and over as it is to read aloud to a whole class. Printed on recycled paper with agri-based inks, with art made from creatively recycled materials, these delightful lyrics and illustrations are as organic as the message.
