What Your Child Needs

3 John 4
I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.

Children in this world need a personal relationship with Jesus. A relationship with Jesus is the most important gift we can offer to our children. This is not a gift we can give them however we can shine the light in the right direction. A relationship with Jesus will give them the foundation they need to survive everything that life will throw at them.

A great way to shine this light is to educate them of their need for salvation. This is your primary task as a parent and as their spiritual leader. The following are a list of high “lights” from the Bible. I have found that learning them yourself first so that you can easily share the message in a way that your child will understand. Tho the public library, Christian book stores and church libraries have bible books that are age appropriate for children, these are great too! However when you know the stories you will be able to discuss them with your child and answer any questions they may have.

1. All have sinned.

Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God

2. Sinners can do nothing to earn salvation

Romans 3:20 Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.

3. Jesus is Lord of all.

Revelation 17:14 They will wage war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will triumph over them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings—and with him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers.”

4. Jesus became man

Philippians 2:6-7 Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness

5. He became a sacrifice for our sin

2 Corinthians 5:21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

6. He rose triumphantly from the dead.

Romans 1:4 and who through the Spirit of holiness was appointed the Son of God in power by his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord

7. His righteousness is given to those who trust him.

1 Corinthians 1:30 It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.

8. Repent

Acts 3:19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord

9. Turn your heart from all the dishonors God.

1 Thessalonians 1:9 for they themselves report what kind of reception you gave us. They tell how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God,

10. Follow Jesus

Luke 9:23 Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me

Present these Bible high ”lights” to your child, pray to Jesus to open their hearts, step back and allow God to do the rest!
