WIN - Study X Software

StudyX is the first general-purpose study software designed to help students (elementary to graduate) learn facts faster, retain them longer, and have more fun while studying! The program includes built-in material students might be studying, or allows students or teachers to enter their own in a question/answer format. Students then “study” by playing games, and creating on-screen or paper flash cards, study sheets, and/or multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank and matching tests.

Unlike a simple flash card program, StudyX offers versatile study options including six fun study games, practice tests (multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank, matching), autopilot studying, study sheets and digital or paper flash cards.

Kids enter study material in a question/answer format. Or, StudyX already includes some question/answer sets in basic history, math, science, social studies and 1000 vocabulary words each in 48 languages, which is useful for both English-speaking students, and students learning English as a second language (ESL).

The software tracks students’ progress while they study on screen, tallying correctly-answered questions and focusing on questions needing the most studying. Or, if students prefer paper, they can print flash cards, study sheets or practice tests.

The StudyX developer, Jeff Minnis from Jeff’s Computers, just launched a major upgrade (version 5.0) featuring enhanced study games and study options, a more robust user interface, and a new multiplayer game.

StudyX has a free 30-day trial. The program is simple to install and use, and works on Windows XP/Vista/7 and newer. Existing customers may upgrade for free by simply downloading the new version. Free online training sessions are offered on first Thursdays of the month at 5 pm Central.

About the developer:

Jeff Minnis began developing StudyX as a sophomore computer science major at Webster University when he couldn’t find any study software like it. “I enjoyed the computer more than textbooks,” said Minnis, “and I expected there were similar students who would like software to make studying less boring.” Minnis set out to create a tool that went way beyond flash card functionality to appeal to various learning styles. He developed prototypes throughout college and began selling StudyX in 2005.
