WIN: Kingka Game

Named one of the hottest toys at the recent 2010 International Toy Fair in New York City by Toytips.com, Kingka (www.kingkagames.com) the award winning matching and memory game that teaches players 54 basic Chinese characters and over 1000 words.

With China’s growing economy and increasing global influence, Mandarin Chinese has become the new must-learn language according to the recent story in the New York Times - An increasing number of global-minded parents worldwide are encouraging their children to learn Chinese as a second language. Created by a Chinese-American entrepreneur, mom, children’s book author, and educator Sholeen Lou-Hsaio invented the uniquely designed Kingka game that guarantees players of all ages will acquire knowledge of Chinese characters.

Kingka's mission is to make learning Chinese fun and effortless through different games and media. The Kingka game is a very helpful educational tool for non-native-speakers to teach children Mandarin Chinese at an early age and to encourage enthusiasm in children to learn Chinese through spirited play.

Kingka uses abstract pictographic Chinese characters as its base, so while a young child who recognizes basic shapes will find the game an intriguing variation on visual discrimination, matching and memory games, a group of college students will find higher level, fast paced rules that enliven a study session.

Kingka was designed so players can learn some Chinese while having a great time! The game’s design is so exceptional that the US Patent office granted a patent to this innovative language learning board game.

Kingka can be played by one person or up to 6 players. For young children, Kingka helps them improve many important skills such as small motor, concentration, memory, communication, advanced visual discrimination, critical thinking and more. According to Professor Andreas Demetriou's research published in Science News, April 30, 2005, children receiving this kind of visual stimulation at an early age have increased cognitive development.

Each Kingka game has 54 characters. There are a total of 162 Chinese characters in the Kingka 1-2-3 sets. There are no doubles among them and every single character has its own unique design. Kingka can expand in a manner similar to wooden blocks or train track sets. For example, players can add Kingka 2 to Kingka 1 or add Kingka 3 to Kingka 2 and Kingka 1 to increase the challenge.

Players can learn thousands of new Chinese phrases and sentences by compounding these 162 basic Chinese characters. These hefty manipulative cards work like a hands-on Rosetta Stone. And starting in March 2010, this matching/memory/Bingo game set can be played as a puzzle game with Kingka’s new phrase cards (available separately).

Last but not least, Kingka is made of high quality food grade paper and Japanese vegetable ink for children’s safety. Recycled cardboard and non-woven bags keep Kingka environmentally friendly.

Kingka has won numerous awards including the National Parenting Publications Awards (NAPPA) Gold Award in 2008, Dr. Toy’s Best Products Award in 2007, Creative Child Magazine’s Toy Award in 2007, an iParenting Media Award in 2007, and the Mom’s Choice Award in 2008.

Kingka appeals to all ages who like to work on puzzles, crack codes or find clues and is an ingenious twist on a classic board game, perfect for teaching the most in-demand language today, Mandarin Chinese.

  63. I'm a subscriber! I would LOVE to win this for my daughter! There is a girl in her class that moved from China this year, and they have become good friends. We've been trying to learn some words to make communication easier. They get along great, but this would be a fun game that we could play at home and the girls could play together when she comes over to our house. Very excited to see this game - hope we win!! :) Thanks!
