Psalms 46:10 "Be still, and know that I am God..." Break down the verse:
Be to have identity with
Be still devoid of or abstain from motion and uttering no sound (quiet your mind)
Be still and function word that ties one verb with another, together for an infinitive of purpose
Be still and know to perceive directly, truth experienced
Be still and know that the person indicated
Be still and know that I am Most High, Yahweh, the Beginning
Be still and know that I am God Creator, all knowing, all powerful, everlasting
The radio is blasting, the T.V is blaring, traffic noise, road construction, emergency vehicle sirens. and cries from hungry and tired children. Everything around us is against the possibility of stillness, quiet or calm. How can we feel his presence when a quiet moment is so hard to find?
By developing an ongoing conversation with God into the craziness of our days. By centering ourselves and focusing on God's presence in the moment.Even if we just say His name - Jesus, Jehovah Shalom (Peace) Jehovah Jireh (Provider) - our minds and hearts can be stilled, trained to listen for the voice of God. And then we can begin to acknowledge His presence wherever we are. In the middle of a toddlers temper tantrum, he is our peace. Paying our bills, he is our provider. In our loneliness hour, he is Jesus, the lover of our souls.
Shhhhhhh.......
