WIN - Story Club Games - Valentines Gift Idea #23

Host a Valentine Girls night out with this new game or wrap one up for your girl friend.....

Once upon a time some girlfriends needed an escape from life’s daily drama. Their white knight was StoryClub.

There is a hot new club in town. It’s been touted as ‘the NEW book club’ and ‘better than bunko’. It’s called StoryClub games™, and it debuts with an inaugural Girls’ Night Edition. The concept is simply stories you write with your friends. “The idea started with a dream,” said Marcie Jacobs. “My book club couldn’t agree on which book to read. So, instead we decided to write a story.” That dream turned into a vision of actual story clubs meeting regularly the same as book, bunko, bridge and supper clubs. After researching the idea Jacobs and friend, KC Kiner, outlined the process of how-to-play. “We knew there was going to be a storybook and some sort of ‘starter’ cards, character cards, and wild cards,” said Kiner. As the concept was fine tuned, the cards were separated into four decks with the Story Starter cards used to get the story going and the People, Places and Things cards used to keep the story going. Once the first draft was written and handmade cards and a storybook put together, an email was sent inviting friends to a new kind of Girls’ Night.

Deceit, murder, romance and hilarity. There’s no telling where a StoryClub story will go! The first Girls’ Night StoryClub met last October. The concept not only worked, but it was great fun. Soon after, graphic designer Elyse Salamon joined the team and began making StoryClub games™ look fun, fresh and pretty. Jacobs and Kiner began researching U.S. manufacturers and negotiated with vendors to get this first edition produced and applied for the proper trademarks and copyrights. In addition, an article in the NY Times solidified their thoughts regarding the possible success of Storyclub. “It stated that since 9/11 book clubs have been on the rise with an estimated four to five million as an affordable way to stay connected,” said Jacobs.

Next on the agenda for StoryClub games™? The company has already begun writing a Kid’s edition that they hope will be used in schools as a tool to help improve writing skills. “We have loads of ideas for StoryClub. Our hope is to be able to offer something for everyone because it’s not only fun, but it’s a terrific way to connect with others.”
